The exciting game of Teen Patti originated in India and has influences from the English game ‘three card brag’ and, interestingly, the more widely known game of Poker. Many of the hands that you’d traditionally get in poker have similar versions here in Teen Patti.

‘Teen Patti’ (Teenpatti) in Hindi means exactly this - ‘Three Cards’. In the other Indian languages, however, the game has different names such as ‘Mucheetu’ in Malayalam, or ‘Munnu Seetu’ in the Tamil language.

At its simplest level, Teen Patti is a card game where you are dealt three cards and the dealer is dealt three cards. Then you can choose to bet to beat the dealer by getting a better hand.

The hierarchy of the different possible hands is similar to poker, but having a good hand isn’t the only way of winning the game. The more experienced players can also use the betting side of the game to eliminate other players, without having a particularly strong hand. Unlike some other casino games, Teen Patti doesn’t depend entirely on your stars for the day.

Now you have the chance to play Online Teen Patti with us at 10CRIC and even better, you have the chance to play Live Online Teen Patti. This means that the game will unfold in the presence of a real human Live Dealer rather than everything being automated.

What do we mean with Play Live Teen Patti?

Play live online teen patti

Live Casino is the most important innovation of the last few years. Previously, all casino games were played against a machine (computer) through graphics, which was fine for those who saw casino games as simply a form of gambling but not so great for those who wanted a more fun experience when playing casino online.

Not all online casino games are live and feature a Live Dealer.

Live Casino means that a Dealer is physically present in a studio and runs casino games ‘in person’ and in real-time, with all the bets placed and cards dealt being streamed to players, who are active in the game.

Live Casino offers a more ‘human’ alternative to the traditional computer-version of casino games and also allows players to interact with the dealer (usually a good-looking lady) and other players via chat, adding fun and social interaction to the play.

Everything that You Need to Know about Teen Patti

Teen Patti is one of the most popular Indian card games that has a few similarities with both the English three-card brag game and poker. Although poker isn’t quite as popular as before when gambling started to go online, it still has a pretty huge following and it’s worth knowing the basics.

In the text below we’ll explain how Teen Patti works, providing some references to poker, where needed. You will also learn what the benefits of playing it in Live Casino are and what bonus you can get as a new customer at 10CRIC, plus other useful information about the game.

Rules of the Teen Patti Game

The Teen Patti basic rules are simple and easy to understand. Teen Patti is like a very simplified version of poker.

The very first step of the game is to enter a boot before you receive any cards. The boot is also known as the Ante, or an Ante bet, a term more known among poker players. The boot is a sort of entry fee and is there to ensure that with any hand, players are always playing for something, however small the amount. With Ante, the players are less likely to fold hands as they will lose money by doing so.

Teen Patti is played using a standard deck of 52 cards. You are dealt three-card and the Dealer is dealt three cards.

The objective of the game is to have the best three-card hand and beat the Dealer. You always play against the Dealer.

See the table below to get an idea of how the Teen Patti cards rank and which the best card combinations are there. A little further we’ll explain the hand hierarchy in more detail.

Teen Patti Hand Rankings

Three of a kind A Three Ace cards (best hand)
Three of a kind Three cards of the same value, eg. QQQ
Straight Flush Three cards of the same suit in number order, eg. 2s3s4s
Straight Three cards in number order, eg. 567
Flush Three cards of the same suit, eg. 4c6c9c
Pair Two cards of the same value, eg. 6s6c
High Hand/Card A high-value card, eg. K

Once you have paid your Ante bet, you will receive three random cards that are dealt face up and the game may begin!

How to Place a Bet While Playing Teen Patti?

To place your Ante bet, simply choose your chip value from the left side of the screen and click on the Ante section on the table. To validate the bet, you should click the green tick button on your right-hand side. You can also choose the 'Auto-Confirm Bet' option from the Settings of the game.

Then you are dealt three cards face up, and the Dealer is dealt three cards face down. You can either fold by giving your cards back, thus losing your ante wager, or you can proceed by placing a bet equal to the wager. To do so simply use the ‘Bet’ spot on the layout.

At this stage, the Dealer is required to hold at least Queen High or better to remain in the game. There are three possible scenarios at this point:

  • If the Dealer’s cards are not as required, you will receive the money of the Ante bets. The money on the ‘Bet’ spot will be returned.
  • You will lose all your wagers if the Dealer’s hand is as required and is higher hand than yours.
  • You will win if your hand is stronger than the Dealer’s hand (as required above). In this case, you will get the money for both the ‘Ante’ and the ‘Bet’, including the Dealer’s money.

To make the game more exciting, you may choose to place an additional wager with your hand, that will award you a bonus payout if your hand consists of the card combinations, listed in the table below.

The additional wagers are two: the Pair+ option and the 6 Card Bonus.

  • With the Pair + you bet that your hand will be a pair or better
  • With the 6 Card Bonus, you consider your three-card hand and the dealer's three-card hand together to create the best possible five-card hand as given below

The 6 Card Bonus Card Combinations

Royal Flush A-K-Q-J-10 suited (best hand)
Straight Flush Five cards of the same suit in number order, eg. 2s3s4s5s6s
Four of a kind Four cards of the same value, eg. 4s4c4d4h
Full House Three cards of one value and two cards of another, eg. 44466
Flush Five cards of the same suit, eg. 3s5s6s8sQs
Straight Five cards in number order, eg. 23456
Three of a kind Three cards of the same value, eg. JJJ

If the five-card hand qualifies for payouts, you are paid according to the table. If it doesn’t qualify, the Dealer collects the 6 Card Bonus wager.

Once you have chosen the extra wagers, place your chips on the respective spot to choose the option. When you're happy with your chip amounts, click the green tick button to place your bets. You will then be dealt three cards face up and the dealer will get three cards face down. You can then decide if you want to bet (raise) or fold. Click the Raise button to bet or let the timer run down to fold.

If you bet on Pair+ and won, you will see the win details in the top left of your screen. Winnings are paid together at the end of the round.

Additional Details of Teen Patti to Know

There are two ways of placing a bet on Teen Patti which are determined by the player’s tactics and the situation of the game:

Loose versus tight play - This phrase is used to describe how a player plays:

  • A loose player generally likes to bet on lots of hands and play to the showdown (end of the round
  • A tighter player will be far more discerning in terms of which hands to play, preferring to make the most of the few strong hands they’re dealt and not wishing to bet beyond the ante when they’re dealt a weaker hand.  The tighter players, therefore, play far fewer hands but that’s not to say they can’t be more successful overall.

It is up to you to choose whether you’ll prefer to play loose or tight in Teen Patti.

Limits of Teen Patti

There are limits at the Teen Patti table. This means there are minimum and maximum bet amounts allowed at the table. Your bet must fall between these minimum and maximum amounts.

To check the Teen Patti table's limits, look at the top left of your screen and you will see the table details. You will be able to see Table Min. and Table Max. These are the minimum and maximum bet amounts for the table.

Your bet must be the same as or more than the table's minimum amount but not more than the table's maximum amount.

Ranking of Hands

This is obviously one of the most important parts of the game so players should be very aware of how hands compare to one another. This is the hierarchy of the hands, most valuable hand first.

Three of a kind (Trio) - The maximum hand. Aces are the highest card so a trio of Aces would be the best possible combination with a trio of twos the lowest form of a trio.

Straight Flush - This would be three cards of the same suit in a sequence. For example, a nine, a 10 and a Jack of clubs. The higher the value of the cards in the sequence, the stronger the hand is compared to another straight flush. Even though the two is the lowest card and the Ace is the highest, it’s not possible to have a straight flush containing a two and an Ace, known as a wraparound.  This rule also applies to sequences.

Straight - The same as the above but where the three cards aren’t of the same suit, though you can have two cards from one suit in it and one of another suit. Or all three could be different suits.

Flush - All three cards are of the same suit but not in a sequence.

Pair - Two cards of the same value.

No Pair/High Card - In the absence of any of the hands above, the highest card determines who the winner is.

Although there are many Teen Patti game variations available online, the ranking of the hands is always the same.
