Due to the ongoing global pandemic, 2020 saw most international badminton tournaments cancelled. With lots of rescheduling underway, organisers have created an exciting badminton 2021 calendar.
Of all the badminton events in the world, fans consider the tournaments in these events the best:
- Premier Badminton League (PBL)
- Canada Open
- Badminton World Federation (BWF)
10CRIC offers many betting options on these and other tournaments and exciting promotions and bonuses for each.
Premier Badminton League (PBL) - The PBL is one of the world's largest badminton leagues and features exciting top international and Indian players.
Canada Open - Traditionally held in September, this highly popular tournament holds matches between national teams rather than club teams. Host nation Canada has had the most success in the tournament, just ahead of England, South Korea and Denmark.
World Badminton Championship - Renamed the MWF World Championship, players enter this championship to win prestige rather than cash prizes. Organised by the BWF, this tournament is the biggest in badminton. Along with the Summer Olympics, it offers the most ranking points. It also crowns the winner a 'World Champion'. Due to the global pandemic, this tournament is currently scheduled to start on November 29, 2021, and run to December 5, 2021.
Thomas Cup Betting & Odds - The 2021 Thomas Cup, known officially as the BWF Thomas Cup, is often called the World Men's Team Championships. The 2021 match will be the 31st edition of this biennial international badminton tournament.
Cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, organisers rescheduled 2021’s edition to run from October 9 to October 17, 2021. This year, China will be the defending champions.
At 10CRIC, we offer a number of Thomas Cup betting markets. We also regularly update our betting site with the most up-to-date data to provide you with the most competitive Thomas Cup odds.
For the latest Thomas Cup draw, three pots received teams based on the World Team Rankings from March 2020. Pot one contains the four top-ranked teams of Indonesian, Japan, China and Denmark. Pot two includes the four next-best teams, and Pot three, the ninth to the 16th.
Since the first Thomas Cup tournament in 1948–1949, only five nations have won the title. Indonesia has been the most successful with 13 wins, followed by China with 10, and Malaysia with five. Japan won in 2014, and after winning the title in 2016, Denmark became the first European country to win the status as the host organisation.
With their strong lineup, Indonesia is bound to enter as the favourites in the tournament. Some of their top players include Anthony Ginting, Jonathan Christie and Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo. Teams from Malaysia, China, India, and Denmark will rank close behind. Past injuries to two vital Malaysian players, Lee Zii Jia and Leong Jun Hao may hinder Malaysia's preparations for this tournament.
The final phase of the tournament will involve 12 teams competing at various venues. This phase will take place at the same time as the last leg of the world women's team championships, known as the Uber Cup.
Uber Cup Betting & Odds - The Uber Cup is a major international badminton competition consisting of women's national singles and doubles teams. It follows a similar format to the men's Thomas Cup, with each tournament taking place at similar times and locations. This year, Aarhus, Denmark, will host both tournaments. At the Uber Cup, Japan will be the defending women’s champions.
The COVID-19 pandemic resulted in the cancellation of the 2020 Uber Cup. 2021's edition is currently scheduled to take place from October 9 to October 17, 2021.
10CRIC offers betting on this prestigious tournament with exceptional Uber Cup betting markets and odds. We regularly update our betting site with fresh data for the best Uber Cup odds.
For the Uber Cup draw held on August 3, 2020, three pots received teams based on the World Team Rankings from March 2020. Pot one received the top-ranked team from Japan, in position A1, and the second-ranked team from China, assigned to position D1. Pot one's remaining teams are from Korea and Thailand. Pot two contains the four next-best teams, and Pot 3, the ninth to 16th seeds.
Since its start in 1956–1957, only five nations have won this tournament. With 14 titles, China is the most successful team and was, until recently, virtually untouchable. Japan has won six titles, followed by Indonesia and the United States, each with three. Korea has won the title once.
Over the years, nine different teams have made it into the finals. Along with the five winning countries, the other finalist nations have been:
Occurring every two years, the Uber Cup is one of the most famous team events in any sport. Countries put as much time and preparation into this event as they do for the world championships.
Olympic Games - Badminton Betting & Odds
Postponed in 2020 due to the ongoing COVID-19 global pandemic, the badminton tournaments at the Olympic Games 2021 will now take place between July 23 and August 8, 2021.
10CRIC offers exciting betting opportunities on these prestigious tournaments with numerous Olympic Games betting markets and exceptional odds. We regularly update our betting site with new information constantly to give our users the most profitable Olympic Games Odds.
Even without the release of betting lines, most people will agree the odds are favourable for a Chinese player or team to win based on their past performances. China has won the gold medal in more than half of the badminton tournaments held since badminton became an official sport at the Barcelona 1992 Olympic Games.
As in previous years, the top 16 singles players and top eight doubles pairs in the ‘Race to Tokyo’ rankings will automatically make the Tokyo Olympics cut. Entries are, however, restricted to two players per country.
With the 2020 badminton season suspended, the BWF announced they had extended the end of the Tokyo Olympics qualification period to April 26, 2021. The selection and allocation of qualifying spots will happen once the BWF publishes its rankings on April 29, 2021. If there are cancellations of the 25 Olympic qualifying tournaments scheduled for the first four months of 2021, more change may come.
As per the BWF’s current qualification rules, PV Sindhu, Sai Praneeth and doubles players Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty are eligible to take part in the 2021 Olympics.
The BWF also announced that they would choose the entries and seeding to tournaments based on the March 2020 world rankings. This condition could mean that London 2012 bronze medallist Saina Nehwal and former top-ranked world player Kidambi Srikanth won't qualify. They currently rank just outside the automatic qualification spots.
HSBC BWF World Tour Super Badminton Betting & Odds
The HSBC BWF World Tour is typically a circuit of 26 international tournaments that attract the world's top-ranked players. Men's and women's singles, along with men's, women's and mixed doubles players, all qualify based on rankings.
10CRIC offers betting on these tournaments with exceptional betting markets. We regularly update our betting site with the most up-to-date data to provide you with competitive odds.
These tournaments divide into four levels:
- Super 1000 - three tournaments
- Super 750 - five tournaments
- Super 500 - seven tournaments
- Super 300 - 11 tournaments
Each tournament offers varying levels of BWF World Tour prize money and ranking points, with the highest for both at the Super 1000 level. There are also 11 Super 100 level tournaments. These award BWF World Tour ranking points but aren't part of the BWF World Tour. Instead, players use these tournaments to qualify for the games in the HSBC BWF World Tour.
Required to play in 12 tournaments a year, the top 15 singles players and top 10 doubles pairs in the World Ranking keep busy. They must compete in all the Super 1000 and 750 tournaments and four of the seven Super 500 tournaments.
The HSBC BWF World Tour Finals tournament is the ultimate goal for players on the BWF World Tour. Only the top eight players in each of the five disciplines of the World Tour rankings qualify to compete in this final. At most, two players/pairs from the same member association can take part in the finals. The BWF World Tour Finals offer prize money of USD 1,500,000.
If you're looking for a wide range of odds on many games and players, look no further than the 10CRIC betting site. We offer the best badminton live betting on the market, man promotions and a generous welcome bonus to new players.
